Time Please

By Erik Downes

It is of interest to behold
The one who is afraid of clocks.
To her two tenses are of gold,
But future she now greets with shock.

The past of bliss- unfurling of two souls,
When on a clock her eyes the scene beholds.
Stifle. Kill. So time may not know gold.
The members writhe and seal the things once told.

Who would believe a course so sweet
Could end abruptly by the men
Whose eyes caused hers transfixed to meet
The clock with hands all poised at ten!

I think a union oh so vital should
Be not halted by man's time idol.
